Our Landscaping Services
No two properties are alike, and we keep that in mind during every consultation. We offer comprehensive landscaping services, tailored to meet your needs. Our team provides everything from the initial design to installation and maintenance.
Landscape Design
We start our landscape design process with an in-person evaluation. During the evaluation, we determine what plants will make the best design choices, depending on the size of your property, the amount of daily sunlight, and the existing soil composition.
Our team tailors each design to your personal style, using native plants that complement your existing foliage and thrive in our region. We choose a variety of sizes and colors to create texture and visual appeal in every design.
Landscape Installation
We begin landscape installation by preparing the space. Moving fallen tree limbs, stones, and other debris creates a blank canvas for us to begin work. If necessary, we shape the terrain using grading and sloping. This promotes proper stormwater drainage, preventing erosion and even structural damage.
Once the area is ready, we install your trees, flowers, shrubs, and other plants. If necessary, we add fertilizer and other soil amendments to promote healthy growth and prevent disease.
Mulch Installation
Summer weather quickly dries out soil, preventing plants from receiving enough water. Organic mulch adds an extra layer of protection between the soil and harsh sun rays, preventing water evaporation on sunny days. As the layer of mulch begins to decompose over time, it gives the soil a boost of nutrients, resulting in healthier plants over time.
During periods of heavy rain, stormwater runoff can cause significant damage to your landscaping, including erosion. Applying mulch can help prevent serious damage, protecting your investment.
Metal Edging
Installing metal edging as part of your landscape design creates a crisp line, clearly separating one part of your property from another. We can install edging along flower beds, pathways, or other areas of your property. Edging is a great way to keep mulch or gravel in place or to control weeds.
If durability is a concern, metal edging is a great option. It retains its original shape and color through winter storms, heavy rain, and harsh sun exposure.
Landscape Maintenance
Your landscape design will only retain its appearance with regular care. We care about the way your landscaping looks, even after we complete installation. We provide a variety of maintenance services to boost curb appeal all year long.
Yard Cleanups
Scheduling a yard clean-up with our team is the best way to set yourself up for success as winter turns into spring. We eliminate safety hazards, such as fallen tree limbs, leaves, and other debris that build up during winter months.
Pruning trees and shrubs at the right time promotes healthy growth and can prevent disease from spreading throughout your property. Weeding prepares your beds for new plants and mulch as warmer temperatures arrive. We provide yard clean-up as a standalone service, or in combination with additional landscaping services.
Winterizing
The secret to a thriving landscape in spring is planning ahead. Some plants may not survive winter weather without protection. Preparing your property for winter helps your plants bounce back faster in the spring, reaching their full bloom at the perfect time.
Erosion is another concern in spring. As snow begins to melt, the overabundance of moisture can cause soil to erode, damaging your landscaping and causing structural damage to nearby buildings. Adding an extra layer of mulch in the fall can reduce erosion in spring.
Ornamental Gardens
Ornamental gardens add an extra layer of depth and visual appeal to your property. Without professional care, you may find yourself looking out your window at dead plants in a few short months. Our ornamental garden maintenance service helps keep your plants healthy, boosting curb appeal and avoiding HOA fines.
Therapeutic Horticulture
It’s no secret that people who enjoy gardening as a hobby experience physical and emotional benefits. Big Visions Landscaping aims to make those benefits more accessible through therapeutic horticulture. Group gardening helps participants develop lasting friendships, improving their mental health. The fine motor skills required for planting and pruning help improve physical health.
Connecting with nature can benefit people of all ages. Spending time outdoors can lead to a boost in creativity and a better sense of well-being. Watching plants grow over weeks or months gives gardeners a sense of fulfillment.
Therapeutic gardening is especially beneficial for residents in assisted living facilities. The repetitive activities help improve memory and can aid in physical rehabilitation for some. Reach out to Big Visions Landscaping to learn more about our group horticulture offerings.
Who We Are
Big Visions Landscaping started with a simple love of plants. Owner Lauren Katz fell in love with all things landscaping when she began working for a local nursery shortly after college. She moved on to work for several landscaping companies, gaining hands-on knowledge about landscape design and installation. The more she learned about the art of landscaping, the more passionate she became about making people happy through horticulture.
With a mission to create beautiful horticultural landscapes to help homeowners enjoy their properties to the fullest, Lauren and Master Gardener Melanie Richardson created Big Visions Landscaping. Starting their own landscaping business gave the team the freedom to focus on what they love most–designing quality landscapes and forming lasting relationships with their clients.
